A Message from Maggie:

It is both bitter and sweet for me to share with you that after much reflection in the past several months, I have decided I will not be seeking a leadership role in Chicago Local 134’s 2021 elections. Building this group has been an incredibly valuable experience for me, one for which I am very grateful. Perhaps fittingly, considering the nature of the game of soccer, being part of Chicago Local 134 has shown me again and again the rewards of collaboration in pursuit of a shared goal. I am grateful for the opportunity to have put my time and effort into creating this community, and I am grateful for everything I have learned from my collaborators.

Looking forward, I hope to bring the lessons I’ve learned from my time leading Local 134 to new goals and pursuits. As many of you know, as of this year I am pursuing a career as an educator, one that I take very seriously and one that I know will require more of my time and energy than my previous career required. Professionally and personally, I feel that it is the right time for me to move on and to allow a new era of organized support for the Chicago Red Stars to begin.

I am so excited to cast my vote in Chicago Local 134’s 2021 election and to see how a new energy might shape this community as it continues to grow. I’ve already seen the impact of that kind of growth and change in the recent past, and trust that energy will continue to propel this group into the future.

While this is a big change in my role in this community, I do not consider it a final goodbye. Of course you can still expect to see me at games and tailgates when those become possible and safe once again, and of course I am always happy to be a resource, a sounding board, and a supporter to all of you who are continuing the work of making Local 134 a space that is safe, comfortable, and welcoming to all.

Thank you all, Go Red Stars, and much love from,
